We are looking for a full-time mechanic to join our Garage Team. The Garage Team provides a maintenance and repair service for a wide range of vehicles and equipment at the Liberty Steel Rotherham, Stocksbridge and Brinsworth sites.Benefits of the Garage Mechanic

The Role of the Garage Mechanic

  • The Garage Team are looking for Mechanics with experience in car/van maintenance and/or HGV maintenance.
  • The primary focus for the Mechanic will be for MOT preparation, annual servicing, breakdown fault finding and repairs to our range of vehicles.
  • The vacancy is for a Mechanic with specific engineering knowledge and skills to provide a vehicle mechanical and basic electrical maintenance / fault-finding service.

Requirements of the Garage MechanicEssential Requirements of the Garage Mechanic

  • Mechanics should be apprentice, BTEC NVQ Level 3 trained and ideally have 2 years’ experience in maintaining vehicles.
  • Team members must be able to understand safe working procedures and apply recognised safety practices to each task they are undertaking including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Team members must be self-motivated and highly flexible. They are required to work unsupervised and deliver a first-class customer service in accordance with departmental goals.
  • Key competencies are a methodical approach to work with attention to detail, analytical and problem solving skills, decision-making skills and effective verbal communication.
  • A current driving license is essential
  • Strong fault-finding skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communicator

Desirable Requirements of the Garage Mechanic.

  • Knowledge and experience on a wider range of mobile plant such as Forklift Trucks, Mobile Cranes, MEWPS & diesel generators is desirable although not essential.

The Working Pattern of the Garage Mechanic

  • The working pattern is Monday to Friday 7:30-3:30 with alternative weekend working 6:00 am -2:00 pm with a midweek day off.”
